Jeremy Sweet Soccer Camps

Wednesday, December 19,2001- THE MAUI NEWS

" We wanted to expose any interested young soccer players to players and coaches of this caliber," said Cris Gilmore, who played midfielder with the Hawaii Tsunami on Oahu during its Usisl championship seasons in 1995 and 1996.  "We want to hold this Christmas Soccer Camp every year, and bring top soccer players and coaches to Maui.  It's a chance for young players and coaches to ask questions and get professional answers.  Soccer is a big sport on Maui and in Hawaii, and this is a great way to meet professional players and learn from them."
"I wanted to give back to the island here," he added, "and give the kids a chance to meet professionals who have worked hard to get to do what they want in life, and show them that they too can reach their goals."

Two Cyber Rays- Christina Bell and Lisa Nanez made a winter getaway to give kids on the island of Maui a chance to learn from some of America's top soccer professionals.

" All of the players got a lot of one on one instruction," Bell said.  "The kids played hard and I believe they took home a lot of knowledge about the game."

" We can hardly wait to return next year!"

Jeremy Sweet, on last years camp

" 2002 was my first year as a coach at the Maui clinics.
I was impressed by the talent and skill of the players who came to participate.  I was most impressed by how decent and well behaved they were.  It was a pleasure sharing my knowledge of the game, and I look forward to seeing the returners and also the new faces this coming winter."
